The Clarinet Convention 2023 was a huge success
Workshops classes and concerts all impressed those who attended: in particular performances by Mark O’Brien and Nathan Isaac and the Household Division Clarinet Quartet. Ashley Brand (Baritone Sax) elicited whoops of appreciation from the attendees in the audience playing a piece called Fox by Nick Russoniello using many advanced techniques and delivering it with precision and energy to an enthralled group of listeners.
Leslie Craven gave great insight into the Brahms Sonatas and some of the guest players in the Guards quartet played in his master class and gleaned much about the interpretive style of Brahms. Alistair Logan gave excellent support by taking one-to-one sessions and ensembles and Ashley Brand also had an entertaining and fun session with some saxes at the end of the day. Peter Fielding rounded off the day with some performances conducting the Clarinet Choir including the world Premiere of Daniel Bickerton’s work “Multiple Choice” a highly skilled composition that impressed the audience.
